Sex Addiction

It’s happened again. You broke the promise you made to yourself, and maybe to your partner, for the hundredth time. The shame and despair is overwhelming, and you don’t know what to do. You have wound up where you swore you would never be, and are at a a loss as to how you got here. This is the heart of addiction. It takes you places you swore you would never go, and it drains hope and resolve.

There are so many challenges that now lie before you, not the least of which is deciding whether or not to get help. It is so tempting to just buckle down and commit to try a little harder this time, right? We shout, “This is the last time!” For many of us though, we know even as the words escape our lips that they are not true. We mean them – we really do – it’s just that we know we have said them before.

The good news is that many of us now stand on the other side of the addiction, and we have reached out for solid, researched based treatment methods and surrendered to doing the work. We surrendered to learning to sit in our discomfort and know that we are ok. We surrendered to learning that our problem is not about sex at all; it’s just that sex or pornography is how we deal with our discomfort.

We are here to help you on the road to freedom, and we have extensive training in helping you deal with the factors that brought you here. Often there is a great deal of trauma and abuse in the stories of people battling addiction, and we can help you locate, process and move on from that.

At Insights Counseling Center, the team is highly educated in dealing with addiction, and we are also experienced as people in long-term recovery from addiction. We know the pain and shame of it all, and we understand you. You will receive help in a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere.

We use the 30 Task Model created by Dr. Patrick Carnes, and we do that in both a group and an individual context. It is a highly effective model at helping you move past temporarily feeling better and learn what it is to get better.

We firmly believe that, sadly, nobody reaches out for help until the pain of staying the same is greater than the fear of change. Does it hurt enough yet? If it does, know that you can step out of the shadows and into the light of freedom. Reach out to us, and you will be met with compassion and understanding.

We are eager to hear from you.
